Novel PET Radiosotope Research

Research on novel radioisotopes for diagnostics and therapy is pursued, including theranostic pairs. This activity started in 2015 through a SNSF-Multidisciplinary project (PI A. Türler, DCB-UniBE and PSI, Co-PI S. Braccini). Having nearly ideal nuclear decay properties for PET imaging and chemical characteristics suitable to be synthetized in peptides and proteins, Sc-43 is proposed as novel theranostic radioisotope (with Sc-47 as partner for therapy).
