Registration
Registration should be made via the registration
form and will open
on February 20th.
Deadline for registration is June 15th. The registration fee amounts to 600 CHF if paid before
15th April, after this date the fee is 650 CHF.
The fee covers all sessions, meeting material, all lunches and coffee breaks, and the evening program.
The evening program consists of the civic reception (Monday), the visit to the Einstein Exibition (Tuesday),
the visit to the Paul Klee Museum (Wednesday), the football match and the collaboration dinner (Thursday).
The fee for an accompanying person is 200 CHF, which covers the evening program.
Registrations are confirmed within two working days by email including payment instructions. Payment can
only be done by bank transfer (credit cards and other means of payment cannot be accepted). If you don't
receive a confirmation, please contact
sigve.haug@lhep.unibe.ch.
The registration desk in Bern will open on Sunday at 13:30 in the main University building. On Monday it will
open at 8:00 in Stade de Suisse. It will also be open during the sessions throughout the week. Receipts for payment
will be distributed at this desk.
Visa and special requirements
You may require a visa in order to travel to Bern (see
this page).

for a letter of invitation. Any open question concerning special requirements should also be directed to Dr.

Accommodation - pre-booked rooms now due.
The pre-booked rooms are now due, and no special prices are available anymore. However, we still recommend
the list below. Most of these Bernese hotels are in
the Old Town or a short walk away from it. You may find
them on this
online map. Lyssach, Biel, Fribourg,
Thun and Langnau are not covered by the 5-day pass for public transportation (see 'Transportation and Maps').
The $ indicates prices below 100 CHF, $$ prices below 200 CHF and $$$ prices 'beyond the SM' for a double room.
As usual a single room costs about 15% less.

Transportation and Maps
Bern is connected to
Zuerich (~1 hour) and
Geneva
(~2 hours) airports by train. From the
Basel airport
you can take a bus to Basel central station and from there a train to Bern (~1 hour).
The distance from the small
Bern-Belp airport is 20 min by car
or bus.
You may visit the
Swiss railway's web pages.
Transport in and around Bern is best by the local buses and trams.
We highly recommend you to buy a weekly pass for CHF 25.- if bought from us.
(Regular price is CHF 35.-). Please contact michele.weber@lhep.unibe.ch in case
you did not request it during your online registration.
From the central station you can reach
Stade de Suisse
in several ways: tram 9 to Guisanplatz, bus 20 to Wyler, or train S1 or S2 to Wankdorf.
From Ittigen bus 40 can be used to Wankdorf Center. All these lines are covered by the
weekly pass.
There are a few places left on the bus transport on Sunday from CERN bldg 40 to Bern
and back on Friday, with buses before and after the CB meeting. If you would like to reserve
a place please contact michele.weber@lhep.unibe.ch.

For participants travelling by car we have arranged for parking at reduced rate at Stade de Suisse.
Note that Stade de Suisse is very close to the Bern-Wankdorf highway exit. See 'Parking' below.

Venues
The Sunday premeetings will be held in the
main building
of
Bern University, Hochschulstrasse 4. You can reach it via
elevator or stairs from the basement of the central station. All other meetings will be in
Stade de Suisse.
The civic reception on Monday (19h00-20h00) will take place in the
Old Town
Hall, Postgasse 68. The Einstein Exibition
on Tuesday (18h30-19h30) will be in the
Historical Museum, Helvetiaplatz 5.
(DON'T confuse with the Einstein House in Kramgasse.)
The Wednesday evening program (18h30-20h30) will be in
the Paul Klee Center,
Monument im Fruchtland 3. The football match on Thursday (17h00-18h30) will be in Stade de Suisse. The conference
dinner (20h30), also on Thursday, will be in
Kursaal,
Kornhausstrasse 3.
All venues are indicated on the overview map (see 'Transportation and Maps').
Football match
The Stade de Suisse will host three football matches of the Euro08 tournament. (on 9th, 13th and 17th June).
We will have the unique occasion to top up with an ATLAS football tournament on 10th July on the very same green!

Power and Internet Connection
Like at CERN the available power sockets will be Swiss. Wireless internet connection will
be available at Stade de Suisse, kindly provided by
www.swisscom.ch.
Parking
If you come to Bern by car, please notice that parking downtown is difficult.
Please also check the parking possibilities with your hotel. At the Paul Klee
center there is parking (Wednesday evening). At the university main building
(Sunday) you are advised to use the parking at the main railway station.
At Stade de Suisse (conference venue) you can use the parking house in the basement.
When entering you draw a normal ticket. At our registration desk you can then buy a
'one time leave' ticket for CHF 10. This means that you can come and leave your car
for the whole week for 10.-, but every time you move your car, another 10.- will need to be paid.
Tourism
The medieval city Bern and its Swiss surroundings are well suited for tourism and shopping. The
tourist office is located in the central station.
On three days we have specially guided tours for ATLAS accompanying persons.
Tuesday a visit to Interlaken and a boat ride on the beautiful
lake Thun.

Wednesday a visit to the famous
Gruyere Cheese Dairy and the castle museum of Gruyere.
~ 110 CHF, 3 course lunch included (min 20 participants).
Thursday a visit to
Jungfraujoch, the top of Europe,
3500 meters above sea level.
~ 230 CHF, 3 course lunch included (min 20 participants).

Refund Policy
In case a serious illness or other emergency situation should necessitate
you to cancel your participation in the ATLAS Week 2008, our refund policy
is as follows: Cancellation before registration deadline (15 June) entitles
to 100% refund. Cancellation before 25 June entitles to 50% refund. The
refund relates to the amount received and bank fees are at your expense.
